It's Been 84 Years, & I Can Still Smell the Fresh Paint...

Well, it hasn't been 84 years exactly, but it definitely has been quite a while since I've posted.

Quick catch up:

  • New job- Content Writing Specialist at an E-Commerce Distributor.
  • New Boyfriend- His name is Steve. He's funny and perfect and turned me into one of those mushy gushy ooey-gooey girls I always hated.

  • New Education- Finished both my AA and AS degrees this year, and enrolled at Cleveland State to finish next Spring my Bachelor's in Nonprofit Business Administration!!!

This next section, fortunately, needs its own introduction. Drum Roll, please....

Volunteering
  • I volunteer with Because I Said I Would still- had a speaking opportunity with them in December.
  • This past year, I joined the Bone Marrow Donors List (you can too here).

  •  I made blankets for mothers who struggle with opioid addiction, and therefore their babies are born with an opioid addiction.

  • I welcomed refugees seeking safety and freedom with a friendly game of bowling, and got to know strangers on a level I could never have imagined before.

  • I volunteered at the Med Wish Band Aid Bash, and volunteered with MedWish sorting medical supplies for 109 developing countries.

  • I painted benches for Cleveland's community

  • And Finally- I began a WHOLE NEW journey volunteering with Crisis Text Line:

So, that's where life has me as of now. Newest developments in the near future:

  • Will be doing a 'waste not challenge'. I'll be figuring out what food I throw away, and whatever that amounts to, I'll donate that portion of the money to Second Harvest Food Bank in Lorain County. Also, I'd like to figure out a ratio of food-thrown-out in some manner to equal volunteer hours, and will then volunteer with Second Harvest sorting food.
  • Continue volunteering with Crisis Text Line
  • Continue volunteering with Because I Said I Would
  • Starting Summer Semester in 12 DAYS!!!
  • Developing further at work
This month, I made a promise to my dog for the next 12 days (already 5 days in) to be extra special and extra nice to him. I'm bringing him extra toys, treats, cooking for him, taking him for walks, taking him to the dog park, etc.

There has been other developments: boyfriend almost moved out of state (three times), a family member who underwent a pretty devastating medical scare, another who unfortunately passed (Love you Uncle Denny), and a nervous breakdown that resorted in me seeing my doctor and re-starting anxiety meds.

Other than this, I also would like to post more in this blog, so these posts aren't so much 'catching up' as they are developing 'in the now'. Hopefully, my close friends and family will keep me accountable to this.

Exciting things to look forward to are happening soon. Upcoming, I have a trip to Las Vegas with Steve planned, my birthday in July, and multiple other volunteer and social activities planned.

This may seem sloppy, but it's my rebirth- and only the beginning of another chapter in my story.

Until next time-

Jenn
